Customizing
netXtract allows you to customize various functional and user interface elements.
To customize netXtract, right click in the netXtract bar and select "Preferences...".
You will be presented with a dialog that allows you to set:
- the default start-up mode: check the box to have netXtract show up automatically
in IE when you open it. Uncheck the box to have show up only when you
ask for it, from the View | Explorer Bar menu in IE.
Note that even when the box is checked, netXtract will not show up when you browse
folders on your computer, but it will appear as soon as you point your browser to
any HTML (or text) document, local or on the Web.
- the default sorting criteria and order for the words in the Index tab (by Word, or by Count,
ascending or descending).
- the default size of text for a context. When you select a word in the Index and
double-click it to view all its contexts, netXtract shows, by default, 5 words before and
5 words after that word. You can increase or decrease this default context size.
- one-click (instead of double-click) to go from a word in the Index tab to its contexts.
- one-click (instead of double-click) to show the selected context from the Context
- the background color and fonts for the Index tab: select the desired color for
the Index tab, and the desired fonts, size and style for the words in the index.
A small preview window allows you to quickly assess the look of the color scheme chosen.
- the background color and fonts for the Context tab: select the desired color for
the Context tab, and the desired fonts, size and style for the context text.
A small preview window allows you to quickly assess the look of the color scheme chosen.
You can reset all changes by pressing the "Reset to defaults" button.
